Pressure Sensors: Accurate Readings, Reliable Control

A pressure sensor measures the pressure of a liquid or gas and converts it into an electrical signal that a PLC, controller, or display can read. The terms pressure sensor, pressure transducer, and pressure transmitter are often used interchangeably. Strictly, a transducer usually gives a low-level voltage output (such as mV/V, 0-5 V, or 0-10 V), while a transmitter gives a standard industrial signal such as 4-20 mA, which suits long cable runs and noisy environments.
