Level Sensors Designed for Monitoring the Level of Water in Fish Farms

Most hydroelectric power plants have equipment located in rivers. As a result, the habitat of some fish species is endangered. One solution to this problem is to use fish ladders, which are very expensive and only suitable for large power plants.

Another solution is to breed fish in fish ponds and replace them.

Water for fish farms is supplied from rivers. River water is transported through a dam to screen wells (which are temporary storage units). The water from the screen wells flows into the fish pond without using a pump (based on hydrostatic pressure).

Recently, special surface sensors have been designed for screen wells that monitor water levels and temperatures. In addition, engineers have designed remote transmitters that transmit data from the surface sensor via SMS to operators. In fact, these remote transmitters send information about filling well levels to fish farms.

The dam is manually opened and closed by operators based on information about the amount of dissolved oxygen and water flow. If floating objects block the flow of the screen well, the water level will decrease. In this case, the transmitters will send an alarm to the operators' mobile phone.
