Special Gas Pressure Measurement: Pressure Sensors and Transmitters

Measuring gas pressure is an important step in monitoring and controlling some industrial processes. Due to the different nature of different gases, different pressure sensors and transmitters are required.

Oxygen is used in energy industries, medical pharmacy, chemical, aerospace and aviation water treatment, etc. the oxygen is extracted from liquid air.

For measuring oxygen pressure, the clean pressure sensors and transmitters with inert oil-filled are safer solutions.

The use of these devices reduces the amount of damage and subsequent repairs. As a result, it saves time and energy.

Hydrogen is used in aerospace, electronics, chemical and automotive industries. Because the atom of hydrogen is very small, it will diffuse through the lattice of the diaphragm (usually stainless steel), so that penetrating into the cavity filled with the silicone oil. After long-time use, the infiltrated gas will harm the sensor.

While gold has low penetrability than stainless steel, a gold-plated diaphragm is a powerful way to stopping hydrogen penetrating.

Special Gas Pressure Measurement: Pressure Sensors and Transmitters

Dry chlorine does not harm nickel, copper, iron or steel. But if gaseous chlorine reacts with water, then it will be corrosive to many metals. Therefore, devices that measure chlorine pressure must have anti-corrosive housing and diaphragm materials.

Devices designed to measure the pressure of oxygen, hydrogen and chlorine gas:

1. Oxygen gas pressure measurement: A special differential pressure transmitter is designed for this purpose. This product contains oil. As a result, it prevents the oxidation reaction between oxygen and silicon oil and prevents the probable explosion. These transmitters are produced under oil-free conditions.
2. Hydrogen gas pressure measurement: A specialized pressure transmitter is designed for this purpose, which has a gold-plated diaphragm that prevents the penetration of hydrogen and in addition causes its stable operation.
3. Chlorine gas pressure measurement: A specialized pressure transmitter for chlorine is designed and manufactured. Its housing and diaphragm are made of full titanium alloy and this prevents chlorine corrosion.
Simultaneously, inert oil is filled in the pressure sensors as transferring media from the pressure diaphragm to the sensing die.
