Figuring out Metal Washers in Plastic Assemblies Using Extra Distance Inductive Sensors

Plastics producers examine control knobs for in-car audio systems. Every knob includes a small metallic washer that every so often turns into dislodged. A custom- constructed checking out system tests knobs in a single cycle. Occasionally, washers are neglected or turn out to be dislodged, resulting in rejection of all batches of knobs by the clients. Manual inspection of every knob is neither cost-effective nor practical; a sensor system is needed to verify washers in the assemblies.

Extra Distance inductive sensors are designed for this application. They are M18-diameter devices from the Basic range and act reliably at sensing distances as much as 12mm. Quasi-embeddable with chrome-plated brass bodies and PBTP sensing faces, these sensors provide a minimum clearance among sensors of only 44mm, , readily accommodating the desired spacing.

Theses sensors check the presence of washers in knobs in just a few seconds and if a washer is missing, the status of the faulty knob will be instantly detected.

Figuring out Metal Washers in Plastic Assemblies Using Extra Distance Inductive Sensors

This inductive sensor has an industry-standard PNP normally-open interface and an integral M12 connector, providing simple replacement and removal of single sensors if needed. They get connected to the clients' checking equipment through flexible PVC-sheathed cables.
