Special Data Loggers of Lithium Extraction in Desert Areas

There are salt pans in some desert regions of the world that are rich in minerals such as lithium, potassium salts and borax and are therefore used to extract these elements. For example, in one of the methods used to extract lithium, it is necessary to pump groundwater upwards.

Excessive groundwater abstraction in desert areas is extremely dangerous for the environment. Therefore, the measurement equipment at this site compares the volume of water extracted from the well with the change in groundwater level. Conductivity is directly related to water salinity and the mineral content of water can be estimated from it. Therefore, conductivity is also measured. Special data loggers are designed for this process. Because water from such areas damages stainless steel over time, the newly designed sensors are made of corrosion-resistant titanium, and due to extreme temperature fluctuations in desert areas, the AA (absolute-absolute) measurement method is used. This type of measurement, unlike the relative pressure measurement method, does not require a reference tube. New versions of data loggers designed for lithium extraction processes are autonomous, low-maintenance and battery-operated.
