With increasing urbanization and population growth, several challenges (such as network instability, reduced water quality, and delays in monitoring and data leakage) appeared in the water supply network.

Here are some other challenges of water supply systems:

1. Water quality can affect the safety of water supply.2. Several factors cause the instability of the water supply network, some of which are:

Expanded water supply range, alterations in the water source, and vast alterations in the pressure of various water supply.

3. Matters like water theft, water supply damage and leakage can't be precisely diagnosed.4. The monitoring equipment on-site can't fulfill the requirements of data amount, since that equipment is few.5. It is difficult to fulfill the setup requirements in the underground environment.

Intelligent Water Supply Network Monitoring

Solutions for monitoring water supply pipelines are considered and include the following:

A) Monitoring the status of the pipeline operation

This action itself consists of several underground monitoring units.

B) Monitoring the water plants

By monitoring the water plant, we get an overview of the status of various plant parameters (such as pH, water flow, residual chlorine, turbidity and DO.)

This requires a wireless monitoring terminal.

C) Community calibration

With the help of community calibration, we can lower leakage loss as much as possible.

For the proposed solution, some equipment is required, which are:

Level and pressure transmitters, (electromagnetic) flowmeters, and wireless monitoring terminals.
