Special Pressure, Temperature and Conductivity Sensors for Subglocial Probes in Monitoring Glaciers

Global warming has put humans at risk of losing polar ice and flooding. This in turn has adverse ecological effects and causes a global shortage of drinking water. Because glacier and pole protection is so important, researchers are looking at the effects of climate change on glaciers, and special devices have been designed to do so. These devices have pressure transmitters and water pressure sensors. To date, subglacial probes has been used to study the flow of glaciers. These probes have special sensors that send data to a computer after recording and have a limited life (about a few weeks).

Cryoegg subglacial probe:

Cryoegg subglacial probe is a wireless ball-resembling device that is a new form of subglacial probes and has several sensors, batteries and a radio transmitter. Sensors in Cryoegg measure electrical conductivity, pressure and temperature. For example, a 250-bar pressure transmitter acts as a pressure sensor and communicates with the microcontroller through a digital interface. The smallest reportable pressure interval is 7.6 mbar, and this type of sensor can detect changes in water pressure with an accuracy of 0.1 bar. These pressure sensors are the optimal size and thanks to the chip-in-oil technology well tolerate environmental impacts. They have low power consumption and ultimately provide an optimal solution. Distinct special conductivity and temperature sensors are also specially designed for Cryoegg.
