Aggressive Media

Aggressive media are liquids or gases which can cause damage to conventional materials through sustained contact. Fluids are referred to as aggressive when they react with surrounding materials.

Examples include acids, but also salt water. When measuring pressure and temperature in aggressive media, the sensing element in contact with the medium must be made from particularly rugged materials such as Hastelloy, tantalum, or certain specialised plastics.
