LED

The majority of the proximity devices come with an integrated Light-Emitting Diode (LED). The switching status is shown by this: output turned on=an LED on.

LEDs are included in almost all proximity sensors, usually one or two. When the output is switched the LED illuminates (the light-ON output for switches with two outputs). The LED is inactive during a short-circuit or overload.

As mentioned before, some sensors feature two LEDs. When sufficient system reserves (excess gain) are available for reliable operation, such as when an item is present in the reliable sensing area, the other LED (if equipped) illuminates.
