Tachometer - to measure rotational speed simply

A tachometer is a handheld instrument used to measure the rotation speed of a disc or a shaft. It indicates the rotation in revolutions per minute (RPM). It is also called RPM meterrevolution counters, rev counters, or just "tachs."
There are various main kinds of tachometers, and each one is best for a different kind of use. The two most common types are contact and non-contact. Also, two main non-contact types are laser tachometer and optical tachometer.
Contact tachometers need to touch something that is rotating to measure its RPM. Depending on the model, they use an optical encoder or a magnetic sensor to do their jobs.
A laser tachometer has a laser on the end of the device. It can be pointed at something rotating to get a direct reading of RPM. This non-contact tachometer works well in places that are hard to get to, like small spaces or when working on industrial machinery. Depending on the model, a laser tachometer's detecting distance can range from 1 to 2 meters.
An optical tachometer has an optical sensor. It measures how fast the wheel, motor, or shaft is turning. It uses a laser or a beam of light to measure the RPM. An optical tachometer can also tell if the frequency of the reflected light is different.
