Warranting Safe Placement of Load before Starting Platform Lift and during Operation Using Inductive Sensors in Packaging

Cartons packed on a lift platform in the down position may lose stability as the lift placement changes. A metal bar on the lift is used to check proper load placement. There is a very simple electrical diagram with only AC power. Frequent switching wears out the mechanical contacts, while moisture and dust also have destructive effects. So we need another simple non-contact solution.

What is the best suggestion for this challenge?

Inductive proximity sensors

How do these sensors function?

A 2-wire AC/DC sensor with 4 mm sensing distance is integrated into the cradle to check that the bar has cleared the load and lodged in the cradle. Since the safety bar can become deformed during long-term usage, a sensor is chosen with a higher sensing distance.

This compensates for gradual target drift with a simple range adjustment rather than repositioning the sensor.

Any movement of the safety bar cuts off the unsafe direction of the platform.

The features of these sensors:

•  A wide voltage range

• Short-circuit protection

• Quasi-embeddable mounting position which preserves the sensing face against mechanical contacts
