Protection of Fragile Electronic Assemblies against Harm through Automated Manufacturing via Embedded Miniature Photoelectric Distance Sensors

Throughout automated manufacturing of electronic equipment, compact multi-finger robot grippers transport printed circuit boards and moldings among operations. During picking, process engineers need dependable affirmation that components are efficiently located in the gripper jaws.

Grippers equipped with photoelectric sensors are dependable and affordable way of verifying the status of PCBs within the jaws.

These sensors are designed according to the requirements of OEMs and system integrators and offer an unobtrusive fit-and-forget solution. These miniature tools weigh just 3.1 grams, and have a compact 4 x 4 x 11 mm envelope and no outside housing.

With sensing distances as much as forty mm, those devices provide designers incredibly flexible options whilst specifying equipment. An industry-standard PNP analog output guarantees most effective flexibility, with an output variety of 0.1-2.6V permitting scope for in-situ adjustment. Connection is through a four-wire PVC-sheathed cable with a two-meter standard length.
