Distance Sensor

The distance Sensor, as its name suggests, is a sensor that is used to sense and measure the distance of an object without direct contact. The operation of a distance sensor is usually based on sending a signal and measuring its change when the signal is returned and received. The change in the received signal can be measured in two ways: Duration of signal return or Intensity of the return signal.

The types of distance sensors are as follows:

  • The most common distance measurement sensor is the "Ultrasonic Sensor". 
  • The second type of distance sensor is the infrared distance sensor, which is called an IR sensor short.
  • LIDAR, short for laser ranging sensor
  • The "LED Time-Of-Flight" distance sensor, commonly known as the VL53L0X
